About Ping
What is Ping?
Ping is a utility that measures the round-trip time (RTT) for messages sent from a source computer to a destination target computer. It helps diagnose network connectivity issues and measure network latency.
Reading Results
RTT is measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower values indicate faster connections. The statistics show minimum, maximum, and average RTT across all ping attempts, as well as packet loss percentage.
ICMP Protocol
Ping uses the Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) Echo Request and Echo Reply messages. This tool uses alternative methods when ICMP is unavailable, displaying results as simulated measurements.
